Clearly I'm having fun making these. Anyway, here's an 80s one maybe you won't be able to smack down in an hour! Name the show and/or character.

Dangit, those are HARD!

#10 Thirty Something with Ken Olin and ? (it'll come to me later). This was a great show.

Nathan used to watch the show with the eye-patched doggie. He was a traveler. Maybe I'll cheat and call Nathan later.

Ooh, these ARE hard. But here are some:
5 Simon & Simon
7 Equilizer (actually g.m. got that one)
8 Cannon - William Conrad
9. Jake and the Fat Man - Claude Akins and Joe Penny

I hate myself for knowing all this.

#2 is from a PBS series about a dog who acts out parts from great works of literature. I don't remember the dog's name, but I do recall thinking how lame the concept was. TV is the enemy of literacy.

#6 is Hawk from Buck Rogers

#9 is Our Sheriff Lobo, a spin off of BJ and the Bear, which was about a truck driving chimpanzee. Don't ask. Our Sheriff Lobo started out as a rapist kidnapper on BJ and the Bear, but I think they softened the character up just a bit when he got his own series. Damned censors.

#1 is Grizzly Adams, I'm pretty sure.

#9 -- that's right, Bucky. I just realized I have a couple of mix-ups. Couldn't remember the show's name, but do remember Claude Akins.

#8 is "Jake and Fan Man" - Joe Penny (those blue, blue eyes) and William Conrad, who was also in "Cannon."

Sorry, John -- I think I have it straight now. One of those senior moments you know nothing about - yet!

No too shabby! Only 1-4 remain unidentified. (#1 isn't Grizzly Adams, LOL. He would be firmly in the '70s category. I thought #1 would be the first to go....)

Kudos to all, especially Bucky for remembering The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, which lasted only two seasons (1979-1981), and its genesis with B.J. and the Bear. I'm clearly not the only one with a misspent youth!

The dog with the patch was not on PBS, sorry.

Fraggle Rock.

#4 -- possibly a remake of The Avengers? Not even sure about that, remember the British type show (never missed it!) and it seems like they did a remake later. These characters don't look familiar but the stance makes me think of the original. So, this is just a guess.

Is #3 Benji?

At 3:16 PM, Blogger John said...

HINTS-----------------------
#2 was on a show with Roddy McDowell.

#3 is not Benji or Boomer. When his owners met, it was murder!

#4 was not the Avengers but you're half right if you think the show was about Brits.

#2 Roddy McDowell -- geez, Planet of the Apes??? Noooo, don't think so -- was there a dog in Planet of the Apes?

no clue on the others either. Hints didn't help - not me, at least - lol. Don't think I'll know #4.
Boomer -- remember Boomer?

OK, I guess all my players have made their guesses.

#2 is Jack from Tales of the Gold Monkey (1982-83).

#3 is Freeway from Hart to Hart (1979-1984).

#4 is Dempsey & Makepeace (1985-86).

#2 and #4 -- I would have never gotten.
#3 I should have.
Those were quite a challenge!

Why do I feel that this was way before my time?

Where's the 90's trivia?

At 12:11 AM, Blogger John said...

The problem with 90s TV is that there was so darn much of it. Before the late '80s, everyone in the country had the same three channels, so a TV trivia test from those days is more fair. Once there were a hundred cable channels, the number of TV programs exploded in a way that would make such a test way too hard. If I did 90s TV shows, I could pick out some Antiques Roadshow announcer and make it very hard without being as much fun. But some of the people on my latest test are from today.

* OK, slight exaggeration. Some people had PBS. But most of us were stuck with the three networks. And if the President was on, there was No Escape.
