Somber News

An email went out to the law review group that one of our members had suddenly died while on a recruitment retreat with a law firm. They think it was either a heart attack or pulmonary embolism. I think he was in his mid-40s. He was one of the top-ranked students, and remarked on a few occasions that he wanted to be a judge.

We made fun of him because when he had a comment to make (which happened fairly often), instead of raising his hand he would hold up his pen between his thumb and index finger at about eye level. But his comments were usually sound and showed that he really "got it." I wondered if he'd known his time was up if he'd still have gone to law school, and I honestly think he would have, he seemed to enjoy it so.
