You gotta love Houston's response

A message to our Cajun friends from across the border:

You are welcome in Houston! We have set up the Astrodome to provide shelter. That shelter is only for those who were in the Superdome. All other refugees should seek shelter elsewhere, 'cause you can't stay here. Unless you're on a commandeered bus. Nevermind, you can all come in.

As you ponder the upheaval in your life, enjoy a 15% discount at area restaurants!

And a shout out to Houston residents--Want to offer housing to the homeless? You can post a message on a web forum. That way, when the poor, hungry refugees find a place to stay and have time to surf the internet, they can read about your offer!

My head hurts....

People don't think farther than their noses. Oh, and how about the looters shooting at the rescue personnel and the rescue helicoptor? I say drop them all (looters) onto an oil rig for the next hurricane and let them loot there. Was there looting like that in NY after 9/11? They always talked about how resilient those people were, (and they were); they talked about how resilient the Londoners were after their ugly fortnight (and they were). Will they say the same about the folks in New Orleans? Probably.

Don't guess you watch Greta Van Sustern on FoxNews (I know, I know) but she is praising Houston abundantly on her show every night (she's broadcasting from the Astrodome), doing all she can trying to solicit people to help Houston. Maybe the 15% discount is a bit tacky, but they're doing good. Beaumont is trying, too. So, I'm proud.

I got an e-mail from someone on the east coast telling me how impressed they were with Houston as we are dealing with this influx of evacuees.

People are doing everything they/we can and are using whatever resource available.

I love Houston and have oftentimes been referred to as "Miss Chamber of Commerce". I hope that this means that crawfish boils will be abundant......!
