Arundel

On our way from Salisbury to Brighton we had the fortune of stopping in the town of Arundel, where the Duke of Norfolk maintains a magnificent castle. If our family history and the geneology records are correct, I can claim the Dukes of Norfolk among my forebears, and the area my ancestral home. It’s lovely there. About twenty generations separate me from the Dukes, so I suppose I’m pretty far down the line for any share in the birthright.

If we had gotten here three days later we would have been able to tour this castle. John said he would have even paid a taxi to drive us to the next destination to catch up with the tour group if it had been open. Just three days too early! Booo!
